Turned out not to have needles of an appropriate size to use with the bulkier really nice yarn I got for xmas, so I went on a trek to obtain some today. The nearer yarn store didn't have any Lantern Moon ones, which, having gotten myself a pair earlier this year, I'm now craving, so I went on to the farther of our local yarn stores. They had Lantern Moons, but not large enough for this yarn and I restrained myself from buying other pairs just to have them. She did have some other rosewood ones, not as perfect a finish but turned prettily with chess-piece-looking ends on them, which she gave me for half price. They only started at $11 a piece, so that was nice, and the finish is actually on par with Plymouth's bamboo needles.
Not sure I have enough yarn to make the scarf I want to after all, though. I always want to do complicated lace patterns, and with these bulky yarns, you end up with like a two-foot-wide scarf, at minimum, if that's what you do with it.
Then on the way home an old lady backed out into traffic and hit my car. I wasn't hurt, and my car only picked up a big dent over the rear passenger door and quarter panel, but our streets are extremely slick because we've had rain for two days. Bona fide major flooding in a few areas, streets blocked off by police, etc. So, when this woman slammed into me, I spun almost entirely around right in the street, with two lanes of traffic going each way. Could have been a very serious accident, but fortunately all I ended up out of it was shaken up and pissed off.
I let myself stop at a diner for an omelette on the way back.

Dun plumage. Freezing wind.
A rejection letter that ends, "With love."
Got some really nice yarn for Christmas and some other really nice stuff.
Hoping to get into a new apartment but haven't heard for sure from the company.
Astrology has not panned out. New year; a whole new emptiness.
