Woman of words, diviner, crusader, grouser, plant-lover, rainmaker, tech support, heart support, Pisces, perpetual tourist, sucker for rock stars and other celestial phenomena.
My first book of poems won the T. S. Eliot Prize and was published in the fall of 2008 by Truman State University Press. A friend once told me that in the movie of our department, Gwyneth Paltrow would play me. Somewhat less recently, another friend said of my writing that "it's like these poems were written by the Whitman of the Ozarks." Much longer ago, a third friend said to me, "I'm glad I'm naive enough to believe you're on my side."
You can read more of my thoughts on reading, writing, and teaching poetry than you could ever want to in Predicate 2.
